The Facebook Phenomenon

Facebook has changed the game. It has changed the way people use the Internet, socialize, and even how advertisers work. Originally the Internet, as told in class, was used for military purposes, but now it’s used for a million different things. The most interesting form of using the Internet is social media and in this field Facebook has managed to become a phenomenon. It has over 750 million users worldwide, more than 50% of users log in every day, and the average person has about 130 friends. Facebook has made itself a part of our daily lives and is present in an outstanding amount.

  1. Today's Facebook is scary. With web 2.0 and everything online being intertwined it's like the internet is keeping tabs on us, and mostly though Facebook. When you check out someone's profile you get to see everything they "like." I think it's brilliant when it comes to marketing but, wow. Sometimes I feel like Facebook is quite invasive, even though I'm subjecting myself to this vulnerability. Anyway, I'm really curious to see what Facebook looks like in about 10 years, and just how much of my own personal information is just lingering online.
